Jen and I recently went to 967 Coffee, a fantastic Yemeni coffee house on Highway 9 near Alpharetta. Jen had a Yemeni lemonade, which after some googling we learned was actually limeade, and made by blending entire limes– peel and all- with sugar and powdered milk. Sounds questionable, tastes like liquid magic. I had a coffee spiced with cinnamon and cardamon – which I recreated this morning in the pour-over cone. It made the entire house smell like fall. I drank it while reading about how Sufi mystics in the mountainous highlands of Yemen first roasted and brewed coffee beans in the 15th century to aid their concentration during long night prayers and whirling meditative dances
